Brown Bag Ministry

This ministry strives to serve those who are poor in body and in spirit. They provide at least one hot, nutritious meal that is accompanied by a spiritual "Thought” or “Word of Wisdom" from our Pastor. They seek to meet persons where they are so they go outside the walls of the church to evangelize, encourage, and invite individuals to come receive a free meal.

Summer Meals Program

Our ministry has partnered with Durham Public Schools in order to provide free breakfast and lunch to the children in our community.  In addition to the meals, our youth leaders engage the children with various activities including summer reading, arts and crafts, and games between the two meals.  This service gives ,children of our community something to belong to and participate in, free of charge, during the extended summer school break.

National Night Out and Neighborhood Community Park Events

We unite communities all across the nation with national and city officials, local communal and spiritual authorities, and partnering companies to:

  • Educate and make the public aware of varied subject matter;

  • Give incentives and explain the importance of coming together to accomplish family and community goals;

  • Promote activities that prevent crime; and

  • Provide demonstrations and share knowledge regarding disease-prevention and how to become more health-conscious.

These events attract individuals who normally would not come together.  We foster a fun, laid-back environment where attendees can eat, play games, make new friends, and learn at the same time.

Health Fairs and Giveaways

Community health fairs enable us to serve residents further by providing health services and resources. The offerings are free to attendees, many of whom would not otherwise be able to receive or gain access to such services.  These services include pro-health education, community awareness, and encouragement incentives to join and support improvement programs.  Attendees leave with a better understanding of their health status and what behavioral changes need to be made to improve their health.

Tender Care Ministry

We regularly participate with local organizations in the feeding and/or servicing of persons in need. For example, we routinely visit persons in nursing homes, assisted-living facilities and help with at-home care for our members and persons associated with the ministry. We also work with a local Women’s A-Glow chapter when they conduct church services at various apartment complexes for the disabled and low-income residents. In addition, our Pastor and other church members regularly visit a local senior nursing/rehabilitation facility.

Witnessing and Evangelism Teams

We seek the lost souls, the downtrodden, the discouraged, and the depressed. We pray against inappropriate behaviors and beliefs and trust the Lord to provide encouragement and rejuvenation to our brothers and sisters who have not realized their potential.  We let people know that the Lord loves them and that He is there for them to help in times of need.

These teams go into the community and surrounding areas, ministering and witnessing to awaiting souls, serving as RFCC representatives as well as ambassadors of Christ.  They are compassionate and loving people and will lend a helping hand whenever and wherever possible.

Community Prayer Walks

Our Evangelism Team and congregation members participate in community prayer walks where love and peace are extended to those they meet on the street.  As directed by God, they walk, praying for guidance and decreeing that the Lord’s will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

RFCC youth are regularly involved in "Mission Nights." Each month a specific area of need is identified. Youth contribute to assist those in need, both locally and globally.
